Every week at Soma, we pray for a specific part of our city to be renewed through the presence and mercy of Christ. Sometimes, we pray for specific groups at Soma or organizations outside of our church. On this page, you’ll find helpful information about these groups as well as links or points of contact if you’d like to get more involved.

College Students

We’re so excited to welcome new and returning college students to Indianapolis and to Soma during this time of year. Please join us in praying for those starting a new school year, that they might find life-giving community, deepen their relationship with Christ, make space for intentional rest, pursue excellence both in and out of the classroom, and find joy and delight in the classes they take and the friendships they form this year.

Quartet of the Vulnerable

The “quartet of the vulnerable,” according to theologian Nicholas Wolterstorff, is the orphan, the widow, the immigrant, and the refugee. This is based on Zechariah 7:9-10, which says, “Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.’” We invite you to lift up the vulnerable in prayer and serve them through action this week.

Soma Students

Soma Students exists to see the gospel change the lives of middle and high school students and to send them out to serve their schools and city with the message and mercy of Jesus. We meet the last Wednesday of every month from 6:30–8:00 p.m. Our location varies, so please reach out if you would like to join us. We would love to have you! Gospel & Marriage Class

Our Gospel & Marriage class meets every Tuesday night, Sept. 3–Oct. 22, from 7–9 p.m. This class is for all Soma couples, married or not yet married, and is a prerequisite for those who wish to be married by a Soma pastor. If you and your partner would like to attend but haven’t registered, come to our first class on Sept. 3 and speak with Jonathan Collord. We hope to see you there!

Nicaragua Vision Trip

Five people from Soma will be in Nicaragua from August 17–24 to explore the possibility of a partnership with Nicaragua Resource Network (NRN), an organization devoted to creating sustainable life change and long-term impact in Nicaragua. Our team will be meeting up with one of Soma’s partner missionaries, Hannah Welch, who has been serving with NRN for a year. The team will visit a church/school community, visit with those in leadership there, learn about their lives, and pray for and serve the community. If you have questions about this trip, please email Shelby Mandla.

Duffey MC

We recently launched the Duffey MC! Nolan and Kacie Duffey will host the missional community at 5914 Laurel Hall Drive on Wednesdays at 6:30 (meal provided). You can email Nolan for more information.
