Soma Church’s mission is to see the gospel change everything in our neighborhoods, in our city, and in our world.
Since 2012, we’ve had the opportunity to see significant change happen in our own neighborhoods and relationships. But God calls us to make disciples of all nations (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:19-20).
At Soma, we answer this call by sending out missionaries to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Currently, Soma supports the following missionaries:
Addison and Katrina Newell: Modjadjiskloof, South Africa
Addison and Katrina are currently serving as teachers at Pfunanane Academy in South Africa. They also foster a four-year-old and a nine-year-old brother and sister.
After graduating from Olivet, Addison taught mathematics for two years through Teach for America in Indianapolis. In South Africa, he teaches fourth-grade mathematics and seventh-grade life orientation, creative arts, and Bible. He also runs the student ministry of the academy.
Addison is an associate pastor of a local church, regularly engages in and leads street evangelism, disciples a large group of high school boys that live on the Pfunanane property, and has begun a new small craft business for the local people connected to the ministry.
Katrina majored in elementary education at Olivet and has taught second grade at Pfuanane Academy for the past 6 years. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Katrina coaches the school's cross country and soccer teams, runs a soccer outreach to the nearby village for 40–60 boys and girls each week, and disciples the numerous girls that live on the Pfunanane property.

Hannah Welch: Nicaragua
Hannah Welch has partnered with Faith Revealed to work alongside the Nicaragua Resource Network (NRN).
As a full-time missionary to Nicaragua, Hannah represents NRN by facilitating short-term teams, coordinating trips, and providing translation assistance. In the first quarter of 2019, Hannah served in seven different communities with short-term teams.
Hannah’s background as a nurse has allowed her to develop the mission’s medical program to better serve those in need of medical care in Nicaragua.

Matt and Amanda Meier: Berlin, Germany
Matt and Amanda worked with Cru on college campuses in Indianapolis for four years before following God’s call for them to Berlin, Germany, in September 2018.
“The need for laborers in Berlin is great,” said the Meiers, “and we believe God is at work in Germany, one of the most influential countries in the world.”
In Germany, Matt and Amanda work to create teams of students “who have a deep desire to know Jesus and make Him known on their campus going after the Great Commission together.”
