Frequently Asked Questions

“How much does it cost to host an event at Soma?”

Members and attendees alike can host any event intended for Soma’s congregations (e.g., a study, a class, a cohort, etc.) for free. For non-Soma events (e.g., a dinner for an outside group, a workshop for another organization, etc.), we do charge a fee to rent the space.

Soma also considers the cost of childcare and/or AV when approving events. Please request these for your event if you need them, but keep in mind that approval for those services is dependent on our budget.

“Do I need a key to get into the building?”

Soma’s building is always locked. You will receive a key card prior to your event to get into the building. Allison Pascascio will contact you regarding getting in before and locking up after your event.

“Do I really need A/V help?”

Unless you have been trained on our A/V system by a member of our A/V team, you will need to request A/V help. This includes if you just intend to use one microphone, for example, or want to play some background music. Members and attendees should not touch the A/V board or step into the A/V booth unless they have received Soma training. To request A/V for your event, please indicate when asked on our request form.

“Can I use the kitchen?”

Typically, yes. No matter which space you select for your event, please indicate on your form whether or not you would like to use our kitchen, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Our kitchen has a refrigerator, a coffee maker, and a large sink, but it does not have an oven or a microwave.

“Can I host a bridal or baby shower at Soma?”

Unfortunately, we receive more requests for bridal and baby showers than we are currently able to approve. Therefore, we have limited these events to Soma staff members only.
